The Tommy Banks Trio, led by the celebrated Canadian icon himself, is kicking off the 2016-2017 Centre Stage Concert Series at the Empress Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Tommy Banks is a Canadian music legend with a resumé that’s bursting at the seams: pianist, conductor, composer, television personality and former senator.
He’s a celebrated jazz pianist, and his trio promises to provide a captivating inauguration for the concert series.
Banks made his jazz-playing debut in 1950 in the touring band of saxophonist Don (D. T.) Thompson. Since then, he has played jazz in clubs, concert halls, and on radio and television throughout North America, Western and Central Europe, Japan and Southeast Asia.
He is the recipient of a Juno Award, a Gemini Award, and the Grand Prix du Disques Canada, and is a member of the Alberta Order of Excellence and an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Join us for a night of smooth, jazzy fun at the Empress, the first of our 2016-2017 Centre Stage Concert Series. Tickets for The Tommy Banks Trio are $35 each and available at www.macleodempress.com, by phoning 403-553-4404 (toll-free at 1-800-540-9229), or at the Box Office on Main Street.
