How to awaken from the slumber of spring

It is three weeks until spring. I leave the house no longer in darkness.

The sun is gently rising with me.
The sun is still up when I return from work, welcoming me home. I love this slow awakening time. The sun gently warming us up — to return, to shine, to reach, to emerge. I imagine the tulip bulbs in my backyard are slowing awakening too. Humming gently to each other in the dark frozen soil: “It is coming … get ready”.
Are you ready? How will you emerge into the season of spring? How will spring be a time of emerging and awakening into an even fuller, more authentic expression of yourself?
I am here to guide you in clear action steps you can take to awaken into spring and move forward towards your dreams. As a Certified Soul Coach, I guide clients in just such a process and this is how it begins: with our mind. Before we can reach towards our dreams, we have to release the “junk” that is holding us back.
For many of us, that begins with our thoughts and beliefs. Johan Wolfgang von Goethe said it best: “Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you cane make anything happen.”
Spring is calling us friends. Calling us to believe in ourselves. To awaken from the slumber of winter. To shake off the cobwebs of our dreams. To step into action and manifest the most amazing life ever. Whoop Whoop.
Now get off the couch, put down the potato chips, and stop emotionally eating your dreams away. Start emotionally embracing and connecting with who you truly be. Join me. Ready. Set. Joy On.
My invitation:
ACTION 1: Intention setting. What do you want to be, do, have, experience or create? Write all of these dreams, ideas and inspirations down on a piece of paper or in a journal. (P. S. let the inner critique and inner judge “leave the building” on this one. There is no place for criticism or critiquing here. It is all about dreaming and infinite possibilities). It doesn’t matter if you are eight years old, or 88 years old; our dreams matter and need to be heard.
ACTION 2: Feel it. How do these ideas and dreams make you feel? For example: “I want to have a circle of mentors to inspire me and guide me professionally.” This makes me feel “excited, supported, free, connected, grounded, infinite and powerful.” Connect with the feelings that your dreams awaken in you. Your feelings matter. Your feelings can manifest great action.
ACTION 3: Mentors and supporters. Who are the people that embody or express these same feelings? Who are the people that will support and encourage you in embracing these feelings and dreams within you? It doesn’t matter if you know these people or not. Whether they are your best friend, or someone you see on TV, simply ask yourself, “who are the people that embody the feelings I desire to awaken and nurture within me?”
For example: who comes to mind when you think of the feelings “free”, “grounded” or connected”?
For me, I think of Ellen Degeneres and my friend Joanne. I can imagine and see them both feeling free, grounded in who they are, and surrounded by people who support, love, and encourage them. How does it get any better than that?
Action 4: Breathing life into your dreams. Now is the time to breathe life into your dreams. Air and breath is connected to our mental self, our mind and thoughts. To mentally prepare ourselves for nurturing our dreams, we need to make time to breathe.
Denise Linn, the best-selling author of 17 books, including Soul Coaching and Quest, is an international lecturer and healer. She is also my personal soul coaching trainer, mentor and certification teacher. Linn speaks about the power of air for space clearing the mind: “Air traditionally represents the mental body, so this is also the time to be aware of the physical air around you.”
For the next week, when you first wake up in the morning, focus on your breath. Feel your breath entering and leaving your lungs. Imagine your breath nurturing your dreams. Affirm your dreams and feelings with a morning mantra or affirmation: “I breathe in. I breathe out. I breathe in all possibilities for nurturing my dreams. My breathe awakens the feeling of __________ within me.”
There you have it friends, four simple action steps to help you awaken into spring. Don’t wait for the tulips to emerge before you do. Nature is already being called to open, expand, awaken and emerge. Let’s join this natural spring process. Mother nature knows best. The time to emerge has arrived.
