Cypress Motors and Swift Current's Lyric Theatre will host a Drive One 4UR Community event to raise funds for Lyric Theatre, on October 22nd.

The event will take place at the theatre from 9 am to 5 pm, and will raise funds to help with renovations to the theatre.

For every person who test-drives a Ford vehicle at Lyric Theatre on Oct 22, Ford of Canada will donate $20 to the theatre.

All funds raised will go towards the theatre's Living Legacy Campaign. The Cypress Ford event will be used to kick off the fundraising for this campaign.

“Lyric Theatre plays a really important role in our community. We’re really pleased to be able to offer an event that has the potenial to raise a significant amount of funds to help with the costs of renovations associated with the theatre,” said Jeff Parsons, owner, Cypress Motors.

Since the program’s inception in 2010, Drive One 4 UR School and Drive One 4 UR Community have offered more than 25,000 test-drives at more than 160 events to generate over $460,000 in donations for high schools and organizations in Canada.

The money raised during the Drive One 4 UR School and Community programs has helped ensure that extracurricular and community activities like sports and music programs continue in local communities.

“We are very pleased that Cypress Motors is giving us this exciting fundraising opportunity, which beneifts both the community and Lyric Theatre. We're encouraging all Swift Current residents to come out and take part in the event. By driving a vehicle you can help raise much needed funds for the theatre. Our goal is to raise the full $6,000 – but that means we'll need to get 300 people out to take part in the event,” said Gwen Uher, president, South West Development Group Inc.

So what are YOU doing Saturday Oct. 22nd? Come on out & drive a FORD for the Lyric!!
