Swift Current’s 30th annual Picnic Inn the Park was held at Riverside Park June 5.

Families and residents flocked to the event for fun-filled games and activities including food tents with offerings costing 25 cents, face painting, games, and local displays including car clubs and the fire department.

“Innovation Credit Union is all about the community and families,” said Cynthia Lenz, community relations co-ordinator.

“It’s just our way of thanking everybody, and having them come out to spend time with their families.”

Innovation Credit Union has hosted Picnic Inn the Park at Riverside Park since its inception in1971.
Southwest Crisis Services has held is annual Duck Derby for 23 years at the event.

“We’re really pleased to have the partnership with Innovation Credit Union. This is such a wonderful venue for us to be able to do the duck derby in conjunction with the picnic and its just an added feature of fun for the family as well,” said Teresa Cole, executive director of Southwest Crisis Services.

In Swift Current, the organization operates a number of different community initiatives including a safe-shelter for women and children, a 24-hour crisis line available to anyone within southwest Saskatchewan, and men’s, women’s, and children’s outreach programs.

The funds from this year’s derby were dedicated to the 24-hour crisis line. The crisis line can be reached at 1-800-567-3334.
