Come the end of September, Swift Current will be awash with cultural activity as it welcomes Culture Days, a three-day festival from Friday, September 30 to Sunday, October 2.

Culture Days is a nation-wide volunteer movement that aims to raise awareness, participation, and engagement in local arts and culture by offering free performances, demonstrations, tours, and behind-the-scenes sneak peeks – all of it open to the public, all of it completely free of charge.

The first annual Culture Days was held in 2010 in over 700 Canadian communities to great success. Swift Current’s first participation in this festival will include free concerts and performances hosted by Blenders and the Lyric Theatre, tours and activities at the Swift Current Museum, Art Gallery of Swift Current, West Wing Gallery, and Doc’s Town, as well as behind-the-scenes exclusives courtesy of the SCCHS Music and Drama programs, Little Theatre, Maverick Alternative School, Swift Current Amateur Writers, and various local artists. The public will also have the unique opportunity to learn skills and techniques from local professionals, chefs, baristas, athletes, artists, and musicians, as a variety of free classes, workshops, and demonstrations are being offered. A complete schedule of events and additional information can be found on the official Culture Days website:

It is never too late to get involved, and we welcome and encourage any further additions to Culture Days in Swift Current.
