Saskatchewan Abilities Council Awareness Week was celebrated in Swift Current, Sept. 3-9.

The week was an opportunity to raise awareness for individuals with disabilities, to engage the community and to celebrate the ability in all people. The City of Swift Current officially proclaimed the week at a regular council meeting, Aug. 28. A flag raising ceremony took place at City Hall, Sept. 5. There was a large turnout for the community barbeque at Market Square, Sept. 7. The barbeque was attended by about 350 people and raised over $2,000 for programs and services at the Swift Current branch of the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. An open house and celebration of the recent renovations at the Swift Current branch took place on Sept. 8.
