On May 18, Saskatchewan author Allan Safarik will be the final writer to appear in the 2015-16 Write Out Loud season at the Lyric.

Safarik is a poet, non-fiction writer and novelist who is the author of 24 books, including his most recent, the acclaimed historical novel, Swedes’ Ferry.
Swedes’ Ferry is a picaresque cops and robbers tale of life along the Canada/U.S. prairie border at the end of the 19th Century.
This rollicking chase story is also fascinating historical fiction, full of detailed information about the prairie border country, the people, the horses, and the weaponry, as well as the customs and cultural peccadilloes in neighbouring nations which are developing in very different ways.
In keeping with the historical theme, Hugh Henry will open the event with a presentation of images and memories from his 2015 trek along the NWMP patrol trail from Wood Mountain Post to Fort Walsh.
He will also touch on plans for a 2017 walk from Swift Current to Battleford to re-trace a late 1800s historic trail.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with presentations to begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $8.
