The first phase of the move of residents to the new Swift Current long-term care facility, called the Meadows, was a success.

Two local developers will be constructing four duplexes on eight lots at the new upscale Cypress Point residential development at the Elmwood golf course in Swift Current.

The Chinook School Division is achieving success in providing additional support to students through inclusion and intervention plans and the use of teacher assistance teams.

Swift Current residents are facing a electricity rate increase of 5.1 per cent on July 1 and another rate increase of 5.1 per cent on Jan. 1, 2017 due to a SaskPower decision to apply for rate increases.

More details about the budget deficit of the Chinook School Division for the 2016-17 financial year came to light at a regular board meeting June 20.

The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation is still raising funds to equip the Meadows, even though the first group of residents already moved into the new long-term care facility in Swift Current in early June.

Second day of races at speedway rained out
