A record harvest for the Swift Current-based Grasslands Growing Projects will result in significant financial support for Canadian Foodgrains Bank development programs around the world.

Donations made by businesses and individuals towards the Swift Current United Way’s 2014 campaign will make a real difference to support a variety of programs and services in the community during the year.

Hutterite colonies in southwest Saskatchewan helped to provide some Christmas cheer to needy families by providing a variety of fresh produce to the Salvation Army food bank in Swift Current.

Bandits score on the ice — 801 times

The Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Brooks Bandits stole the show Dec. 6 as they managed to get 801 stuffed animals plus an overflowed bin of food donations for the Brooks Food Bank during their Dec. 6 game at the Centennial Regional Arena vs. the rival Okotoks Oilers.

Some people may be thinking of July due to the nasty weather the prairies has been experiencing this week, but for Janet Biemans’ and her family, July is being anticipated for another reason.

Led by teacher Celia Hammerton, the Central School Choir will appear on Telemiracle 38.
