She did it. Swift Current’s Meghan Chisholm reached her goal which she had trained for since November 2013, by swimming across the English Channel. Chisholm, 19, finished the feat July 22.

Quonset Days an outstanding family effort

It was just supposed to be a little get together with some friends and whoever wanted to come and act as a tribute fundraiser to raise some money for the ALS Society of Alberta, but now southeastern Alberta’s Quonset Days has grown into something huge — the self-professed but very arguable “Greatest Outdoor Party on Dirt.”

Two things which are certain: small communities can accomplish big things, just ask those people in Jenner, Buffalo and the people who work with the Helicopter Air Lift Operation in southeastern Alberta. And the number 13 is not bad luck.

Swift Current swimmer Meghan Chisholm (at left) receives a donation of over $500 from Ella Toles, June 12. Chisholm is raising funds for juvenile diabetes with her solo across the English Channel in July over a distance of 34 kilometres.
