A proud and major community supporter of Swift Current came through for the Swift Current SPCA.

While the name says Big Brothers, Big Sisters (BBBS) Medicine Hat, it only tells part of the story as the group has a program which benefits those outside city limits.

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) mentoring programs come in numerous forms — the traditional Big Brothers or Big Sisters, the In-School where adults meet with the children (or littles) right in the schools, Game On Group Mentoring and Couples for Kids.
However, caseworker Jill Forsythe who specializes in teen and in-school mentoring, says it’s difficult to expand further into the rural areas.

The Salvation Army in Swift Current will be able to provide more effective emergency relief during any future disaster situations after the recent arrival of a community response vehicle.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation invites applications for Heart&Stroke My Healthy Community Grants. This round of grant projects will be awarded up to $4,000.

The financial situation of the Swift Current SPCA at the start of 2015 is not so dire as a year ago, but the shelter will require ongoing support from the community to continue its operations.
