The business community has been showing support for Swift Current United Way’s new premiere fundraising event.
The 1st annual Foundation of Hope gala will take place Nov. 7 at the Living Sky Casino Sky Centre.

“We’re really excited about the venue,” Swift Current United Way Executive Director Stacey Schwartz said. “I think it’s going to be one of the fanciest events in Swift Current.”
The Living Sky Casino recently became a silver sponsor of the event with a $5,000 sponsorship. A cheque presentation took place at the casino June 2.
Living Sky Casino General Manager Trevor Marion said it was an easy decision to support the event.
“When Stacey first proposed it, I thought it was a great idea,” he mentioned. “And with the United Way supporting so many causes, it was a great way to get involved.”
The casino provides the venue for the event as another means to support non-profit organizations in the community.
“It helps organizations like this just because it reduces cost and everything else,” he said. “When we arrived here just about seven years ago we made the commitment to give back. We’ve been giving back ever since and we’ve been trying to help the United Way wherever we could.”
According to Schwartz the Living Sky Casino has been a big supporter of the United Way over the years.
“We aren’t doing the golf anymore and they were our title sponsor for that,” she said. “So it means a lot that they still believe in what we are doing. They want to be involved and be a part of what we’re doing in the community.”
She noted support from the business community for the Foundation of Hope gala will be a key part of the event’s success.
“It’s huge,” she said. “With every event there comes cost and definitely our event sponsors are the reason for why this is happening. ... The profit that we make at the event is all going straight back into the community, which is really exciting.”
JayDee AgTech is the platinum sponsor of the event and Vision Care is the gold sponsor. The two silver sponsors are Living Sky Casino and SaskValley Dental, while Pharmasave is a bronze sponsor. The table wine sponsorship is provided by Duane and Bev Smith and the wine pull sponsor is Standard Motors.
There are still some sponsorship opportunities available for businesses that want to support the gala, especially with regard to cash donations and items for the live auction.
“That’s what we’re now requesting because the event sponsorship is higher and it might be out of the budget range for some of the businesses,” she said. “So there are other ways they can give if their budget isn’t in the event sponsor category.”
In addition to being a glamorous and elegant evening, the Foundation of Hope gala will be a means to raise the United Way’s profile in the community and to highlight the important work done by its member agencies.
The 12 member agencies of the Swift Current United Way provide more than 150 programs and services in the Swift Current area. Their impact is significant and approximately one in seven people in the city are using or have used a service provided by a United Way member agency.
