Swift Current Youth Ministries, Legionnaires AAA hockey team come through big for Salvation Army Matthew Liebenberg

Participants in the Swift Current Youth Ministries city-wide food drive on Oct. 31 pass on food items from a trailer to stock the shelves of the Salvation Army food bank.

Close to 100 young people from six church youth groups and members of the Swift Current Legionnaires AAA hockey team participated in the food drive on Halloween that collected over 8,500 pounds of food in three hours from city residents for the food bank. The Salvation Army's 101st annual Christmas campaign in Swift Current will be launched on Nov. 14 with a pancake breakfast at All Saints Catholic School. The goal of this year's campaign will be to raise $175,000 for work done in the community throughout the year, including the food bank and various other programs to support families and individuals in need.
