On Tuesday, August 13 at 11:30 a.m., Shelley Sopp, RBC Senior Account Manager for Business and Personal Clients, will be presenting a cheque for $1,000 to The Shaunavon Volunteer Fire Department and The Town of Shaunavon.

Through her many volunteer hours in and around the communities of Southwest Saskatchewan, Shelley Sopp has been awarded the Regional President's Community Leadership Award through RBC Royal Bank.

With this acknowledgment, RBC Royal Bank has also awarded Shelley a donation of $1,000 to donate to the Non-Profit Organization of her choice. Shelley chose the Shaunavon Volunteer Fire Department.

As Shelley, herself, was in need of assistance from the Shaunavon Volunteer Fire Department within 3 weeks of moving to the area due to a motor vehicle accident, the Department has remained close to her heart.

Dean McNabb, Chief of the Fire Department in Shaunavon, has stated the donation will be allocated to the purchase of a Skid Unit for Shaunavon's new Command Truck, which will supply necessary water for rapid attacks on grass fires. This will help save land, property, and potentially lives in the Southwest.
