On Aug. 4, the Millarville Rodeo will help support the fight against Prostate Cancer in Southern Alberta with the “Give Prostate Cancer the Boot” concert featuring live music by Gord Bamford and guests Wildflower, Bobby Wills and Drew Gregory. Proceeds from the concert will go towards Combines for Cures™ and the Rural Man Van program.

Combines for Cures is an initiative of the Prostate Cancer Centre that provides baseline PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood tests for men in rural southern Alberta with a mobile testing clinic called the Rural Man Van.
In 2013, prostate cancer will claim the lives of eight men each week on average in Alberta. The Man Van aims to save lives by increasing awareness and early detection of the disease.  If caught early, prostate cancer is the most treatable cancer in men and establishing a baseline PSA level is the best way to identify a change down the road.
As a result of the recent devastation in High River and the MD of Foothills, Combines for Cures is also calling out to the local agriculture and corporate community to support those affected by the flood. Tickets to “Give Prostate Cancer the Boot” can be purchased and donated to first responders and families affected by the flood. Radio partner, Sun Country Radio, and host/programmer, Jody Seeley, will help distribute the tickets to people who greatly deserve a fun filled day of up-close rodeo and an evening with CCMA winner Gord Bamford.
“This is just one way for Combines for Cures to support the MD of Foothills and the rural communities that were so affected by the flooding,” says Sarah Geddes, Manager of Rural Initiatives, Combines for Cures. “Communities are so important to us and we hope to support them during the Give Prostate Cancer the Boot concert in a big way.”
Tickets to the concert and packages that include rodeo entry can be purchased on Ticketmaster.
To support Combines for Cures as an individual or a corporate sponsor or to donate tickets please contact Sarah Geddes directly at the Prostate Cancer Centre.
