The St. John Ambulance training centre in Swift Current is offering a course in June on what every babysitter should know.

Babysitters will learn the following during this six and a half hour course: What are the babysitter’s responsibilities, what is a safe way to get a job, how to take care of infants, toddlers and older children, keeping kids safe, handling emergencies, and first aid.

Babysitters will have numerous opportunities for hands-on practical skills that will help build confidence – from diapering to feeding young children. They will also have a chance to run through various emergency situations.

Our next babysitter training courses will take place on June 16, August 15, September 14, October 19, November 16, and December 14.

St. John Ambulance in Swift Current will also be offering a Home Alone program that prepares children to stay home alone for short periods of time.

The Home Alone Program is designed to provide children nine years of age and older with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time.

It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations and keep them safe and constructively occupied. We will be offing this course on June 15, September 21 and November 30.

St John’s Second Annual Summer Day Camp will take place on July 22 to July 26, 2013. This week-long day camp is packed full of interesting courses for children to participate in: Babysitter training, emergency first aid and wilderness first aid.
