Aug. 15 was the third out of four barbecue events hosted by BMO for the Swift Current United Way.

We had our best turnout this year and sold out.  One surprise was a donation of $150 dropped off by the Swift Current Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation.  I would like to thank them for their contribution and their support on behalf of our 12 funded partners.

We have had four funded agencies attend the market square:
- Canadian Mental Health - Ruth Smith (Executive Director)
- Southwest Crisis Services - Teresa Cole (Executive Director)
- Saskatchewan Abilities Council - Marjory Tunney (Regional Director)
- Early Childhood Intervention Program - Stacey Koch (Interim Executive Director)
We aim to raise awareness of the United Way and educate the public on who the United Way is, what they do and who our funded agencies are.  Here's a list of all our funded agencies below:

After an appeal to the business community, we have had an outstanding and supportive response.  To date, we have had numerous organizations support the United Way through donations of raffle prizes valuing a total of approximately $2,500.  They include:

  • Giant Tiger - commitment of $300 in gift certificates throughout the summer
  • Body Fit - prize package valued at $390
  • Fabutan - $500+ of gift certificates
  • Sputtergotch - two prizes; $230 value
  • Yours Truly - $200 gift certificate
  • PizzasTop - $150 worth of gift certificates
  • Salvation Army Thrift Store - $100 of gift certificates
