The future of the Dr. Noble Regional Healthcare Foundation in health regions’ transition

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health has begun its process to amalgamate all of the health regions in the province into one single region.

This process will likely lead to some changes in the way things are done, although we at the Foundation are certain that the goal to provide quality health care to our province will remain a top priority.
What does this mean for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation? Well, time will tell how things will end up, but we don’t expect much to change for the Foundation. We are a completely separate independent organization. Yes, we gather support for the purchase of equipment for health care, but we are not employed by the ministry. The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation is locally run, with a local volunteer board of directors governing our operation. We enjoy working with the Cypress Health Region and look forward to working with the new single region system, but we work for the needs of health care in the southwest first.
So, when the Cypress Health Region becomes part of the one provincial region, what happens to donations to the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation? This is a question we have been asked a lot since the amalgamation of regions was announced. What happens now? From our perspective, it will be business as usual. We may have different protocols going forward as far as how we connect with the ministry, but how we connect with donors will not. The Foundation has always accepted donations and gifts to help with the cost of health care equipment in the southwest corner of the province, and, with your support, we intend to continue that.
It is our opinion the need for public support of health care will need to continue, may even increase under the new system. We just want to let you, our donors and our supporters, know that we will continue to serve our area.
Money gathered and designated for use in the southwest will stay here and be used here.
