Santa and Mrs. Claus, like many people, love animals.

The jolly man and his good wife will be posing for photos with pets to support the Swift Current SPCA on Saturday November 26. The “Santa Paws” event offers the opportunity to bring your dog or cat to Cowtown in the Swift Current Plaza Shopping Centre between 12 noon and 4 p.m. to pose with the Christmas duo.
“We have had a lot of fun with this fundraiser for the past few years, “ says SPCA Development Officer Teresa Cole.  Similar to child photos with Santa, this gives pet “parents” the chance to make a unique holiday memory. “It’s just $5.00 per picture, all in support of the local animal shelter, and your souvenir print will be ready in time to be a great holiday gift or keepsake, “ Cole concludes.
The event is run on a first-come, first-served basis between noon and 4 p.m. and pet owners are asked to bring their pets on leash or in carriers. For more information on this and other SPCA events see or find them on Facebook.
The Swift Current SPCA is a local volunteer-directed registered charity which receives no provincial or federal funding, is not affiliated with nor funded by the Saskatchewan SPCA, and must raise 80% of its $300,000 annual operating budget from the community each year. It serves approximately 300 domestic pets (cats and dogs) annually, operating 24/7 – 365 day a year no-kill shelter services with a high standard of health safety. It also provides required medical services including a spay/neuter program, foster and adoption services, pound services for the City of Swift Current, and a lost and found registry and microchipping program to help reunite strays with owners. The SPCA has operated animal shelter services in Swift Current since 1973.
