Friends of Medicare are hosting an evening event Sept. 13 to talk about ongoing efforts to introduce private pay-for-plasma donation clinics in Canada and how they relate to the tainted blood scandal of the 1980s.

After the discussion there will be an opportunity for questions and answers and information on how to join the campaign to secure the integrity of a voluntary donation system where profit and payment do not put  supply at risk.
Speakers include Kat Lanteigne of  BloodWatch.org whose advocacy efforts helped push the Ontario government to pass a law with support of all parties to ban paid clinics there and Sandra Azocar of Friends of Medicare who will talk about the Alberta context where some politicians are in favour of the clinics moving here.
The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. with the event starting at 7 p.m. and scheduled to last until 8:45 p.m.
It will take place at the Medicine Hat College (299 College Dr.) in Room S159.
