Eating disorders affect up to 5% of the total population and have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, and yet they continue to be shrouded in shame, secrecy and stigma.

People who struggle with eating disorders often feel isolated and misunderstood.
Compounding the problem, in most parts of the province, there are few or no supports available. But that is about to change.
There's an on line support being organized for June 15-July 20. It is professionally facilitated by expert in eating disorders. It works by video conference via computer, tablet, smartphone. It's with a small group to allow full participation. Open to any Albertan with an eating disorder over the age of 18 years.
There's a small participant fee and registration is now open. To learn more and/or register, visit: online-support.html
The Eating Disorder Support Network of Alberta (EDSNA) is a registered charity dedicated to supporting those affected by eating disorders and raising awareness in the community about this complex and often misunderstood illness.
EDSNA support groups have been independently evaluated and shown to be highly effective in raising hope, creating connection, building knowledge and dispelling stigma.
