July 28 – Eastend
Maureen & Candace – Summer Reading Series at Café Terra in Eastend. Kick back and relax this summer by joining us every Friday evening throughout July and August for our Summer Reading Series. We ahave a folklorist and local talented unpublished authors taking part and we are honoured to present the Eastend Write for Your Life group on July 28. The reading series winds up with an open mike night August 25. There is no charge to attend the readings. Weather permitting, the events will take place outside on our new patio. Readings begin at 7:30 p.m. Music buskers welcome (time is limited). Wood fired pizza available for purchase 5:15-7:15 pm. Beer and wine, coffee and tea, and cold specialty beverages also for sale. Opening: Maureen Elder lived in Ontario for nearly 50 years before coming out to Saskatchewan and finding her voice in the Cypress Hills. She is now completing a poetry-filled memoir- Honeycumin Saskatoons- about finding the right place, and coming into her own: as a poet- and as a cook!
Candace Savage has earned an international reputation for the charm and vitality of her thinking and her words. The author of more than two dozen books on an impressive breadth of subjects, she is a distinctive voice of western Canada, in conversation with the world.
