Figure skaters from across the prairie provinces will be competing in Swift Current during the annual Provincial Jean Norman competition, hosted by the Swift Current Skating Club at the Fairview arenas Feb. 24-26.

RCMP just received word about a bus that was westbound on the Number 1 highway left the road and drove through the center median on the south side of the road for approximately 200 meters.

Despite the recent setback for TransCanada’s proposed Keystone XL pipeline when U.S. President Barack Obama denied a presidential permit for the project, planning is still under way for transmission lines in the Swift Current area that will provide power to two pumping stations along the pipeline route.
